Welcome to our website!!  My name is Hap Welty and I am the Founder and President of HANDS WITH CANS Inc.

Our Non-Profit organization was created to “HELP THE HELPERS” feed the hungry. We collect non-perishable items, deliver them to established food banks, so that the items may be distributed in the local communities that we serve.

This mission was started for three primary reasons:

  1. NEED: due to the skyrocketing grocery prices in the United States, we have seen a significant rise in those families that do not have the means to supply enough food for their children.
  2. YEAR-ROUND FOOD COLLECTION: over many years of observation, I noticed that we Americans throw our giving efforts into high gear around the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season. With our efforts at HANDS WITH CANS, we hope to develop a regular and significant chain of food donations all year long.
  3. OTHERS FIRST: providing non-perishable items to those most in need is a relatively easy and inexpensive way to serve others. While doing so, we hope we can help develop a giving spirit that provide emphasis on serving OTHERS FIRST. The very best part of humanity is when we give of ourselves to those who need our help!

You can help us by signing up using the drop-down menu above.  Establish your desired role, giving goals, and we will then establish a team for you to participate on.  Record each donation through our app while through regular progress updates we will show you how your team is faring against other teams in a friendly competition.

The organizations we partner with includes churches, schools, businesses, grocery stores, government agencies, sports groups and many more.

By soliciting committed, ongoing community volunteers, we are combining civic service  with a sense of  camaraderie and friendly competition. The ongoing mission of the simple task of collecting cans can achieve effective and lastly results tha will change the lives of individuals and families right where we live.
